Festival of Sleep Day – Fruitcake Toss Day – Humiliation Day

Wow! Looks like today’s gonna be a three-for-one day! Today is three special holidays; one for chilling, one for fun, and one a bit more “humbling.”

The 1st is the Festival of Sleep Day. This is the perfect kind of day to just stay inside, stay in bed, and go back to la-la land. Since it’s chilly out this January, staying in your nice and warm bed a little while longer before going outside is understandable. Especially if you need to catch up on some much needed and missed out sleep that you lost over New Year’s Eve or a long time ago. So go ahead and catch a few extra winks, just don’t be late for work!

The 2nd is the Fruitcake Toss Day. Now I know that some people and places are capable of making some delicious fruitcakes but for those of you who were given ANOTHER stinkin’ fruitcake that you HAD to accept, take this opportunity to…you guessed it, TOSS IT OUT!!! Try and have some fun with this. Get together other people who were given nasty fruitcakes too and have a contest to see who can throw their fruitcake the farthest. Now, I don’t normally support getting rid of perfectly good food but it’s more than likely that the food will be eaten by a wild animal or will at least disintegrate into the earth. So have fun tossing those fruitcakes and remember: don’t throw them at anyone. Those things can be dangerous.

And finally, the 3rd one is Humiliation Day. I am NOT saying go out and prank people, but rather, recognize the negative aspects and effects of humiliating someone or a certain group. Humiliating people publicly is a horrible thing to do. You wouldn’t want someone to do it to you, so why would you do it to someone else? Simple, you don’t. Rather, use this day to be more humble and accepting of others who are different and have different ideals or beliefs than you. It is what makes us different that makes you special and beautiful.

So, you can do one of these things, do only two of them, or heck, DO THEM ALL! Remember that these holidays are meant to be fun but also, don’t forget about the lesson in each of them. Get plenty of sleep, don’t waste good food but don’t keep the nasty stuff and no one likes to be humiliated.

Have a great day everyone ^__^
