National Freedom Day

Woohoo, it’s finally February! I think this year’s going good so far, how about you?

This day, today, is National freedom Day. In 1865, this was the very day that slavery officially ended thanks to the 13th amendment. If not for that amendment, white Americans might still be treating Africans as if they were livestock. We may not all look the same but we still are a part of an entire race of intelligent, powerful and evolved creatures that have come to rule the world. We would probably look at one another through angry eyes, hate-filled hearts, and fear of one another if not for Abraham Lincoln passing the amendment.

Let us take this day to appreciate how far we have come since those dark times, how lucky we are that things are no longer like that here in America and that we have no reason to view one another as if we are totally different creatures; we are all a single piece out of a giant puzzle creating a beautiful picture of an outstanding race of beings.

So take a moment, reflect on what was and what could have still been if not for the 13th amendment and be thankful.
