Thesaurus Day and Winnie the Pooh Day

Alright, it’s a two-for-1 holiday that has something in common with each other: books! Today is Thesaurus Day and Winne the Pooh Day!

For Thesaurus Day, this day is mainly to celebrate Peter Roget, the guy who wrote Roget’s Thesaurus, Birthday. The thesaurus is the best book to own if you have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. This book has been around for hundreds of years and is still popular. It’s great for students, crossword puzzle lovers, etc. Take this day to take notice in this book that has probably helped you many times in your life (like trying to make your essays sound more intellectual or perspicacious.)

For Winnie the Pooh Day, this is to celebrate A.A. Milne’s Birthday, the author of Winnie the Pooh. Who in this day and age hasn’t heard of, read, or watched the series Winnie the Pooh? We all know the group, know their personalities, and still love them all. For those of you have kids, if you haven’t already done so, introduce them to Winnie the Pooh. It is a classic that should continue to stay strong and alive in future generations.

Also, if you are older and still a fan of Winnie the Pooh, I suggest getting The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff.
It gives you a new outlook on the world of Winnie the Pooh like you haven’t seen before. You get to learn how to be more like pooh, how doesn’t fret like Eeyore, hesitates like Piglet, calculates like Rabbit, or pontificates like Owl…he just…is. Read the book to learn more and to know what pontificate means…use your thesaurus.

So go to your shelf, open up a book, read, and learn.
